A family tree is a chart which represents family relationships using a tree structure. By looking at a family tree, you will be able to know your ancestors, your ancestors' parents and so on. But in order to create a great looking and efficient family tree, you will need a specialized computer software for this purpose. That's because drawing the diagram on a plain piece of paper may not be enough for most people. An application which can help you build family trees in the shortest time possible is GreatFamily.

After installing and launching the program, the user will see a sample family tree inside the program's intuitive interface. By double clicking on the name of a person inside the tree, a new window will be opened, containing advanced information regarding that person, like address, birth date, phone number and so on.

The user can modify the existing sample family tree or he can create a new one from scratch. The first thing to do is to choose whether the object will be a male or female person. Next, the user should add personal information about the person. The final step is to link the added object with an existing one, for example link a child to his mother and father.

All the people contained by a family tree can be displayed as a list, in the lower part of the interface, offering the user the possibility of easily searching for any person, using the real-time search tool. After the family tree has been created, the user can save it as a project file or export it to a GEDCOM file, which can be used with other similar applications. Besides that, the family tree can be printed directly using any ordinary printer.
